Fall, 1999 and Spring, 2000
The Psychology Department at Hunter College has approximately
1000 majors, more than any other department in the College. However, we
try to provide you with quality advising and information, and we do make
our tremendous resources available to you. These resources include a wealth
of information as well as our Advisors, Faculty, Staff, and this Site.
Whether or not you have met the prerequisite requirements
to formally declare your Psychology major, we encourage you to visit the
Psychology Advising Office and attend an Orientation
Meeting as soon as possible. Doing so will provide you
with access to all of the resources of the Psychology Department, such
as Advising, right now.
We especially invite you to attend the meetings sponsored
by the Advising Office each semester. These meetings deal with topics such
as an orientation to the Department, requirements for completing the Psychology
Major, course planning, the fields of psychology, careers for BA's
and MA's, and applying to graduate school in psychology and related fields
such as counseling and social work. Additional meetings are scheduled each
semester on other topics of interest to majors.
The purpose of this site is to provide the basic information
needed by Psychology Majors to help you complete the bachelor's degree
in psychology. It also tells you where to go for additional help and information.

Please feel free to stop by the Advising
Office for help. We've included a section in this site that describes
some of the resources of the Advising Office and the kinds of information
we provide. For simple questions after reading this site,
you may e-mail Dr. Tobey Klass, the Faculty Undergraduate Advisor,
at
psychadv@shiva.hunter.cuny.edu
Although the Department is very large, there are numerous
opportunities for you to develop research and field work relationships
with faculty, and to get involved through the Psychology
Club, Psi
Chi, and PSYCH-L.
We look forward to getting to know you and being of help.
And, we welcome comments about this site, and suggestions for the future.
