ADVISING HOURS: 
During the Fall, 1999, semester, the Advising Office is open Mondays through Fridays. (Check with the Advising Office for any changes.)We do not make appointments for advising; just drop by during posted hours.  

** You must see Dr. Klass for evaluation of foreign or U.S.      transfer credit, and for permits. 
Her hours are 2 - 5pm on Tuesday     and 11am - 12 pm on Wednesday.  (You need to bring your Hunter transcript, a copy of the catalog course description from the institution at which you took the course, and a course eqivalency ("transfer credit evaluation") form.  If you don't want to wait druing these hours, youu can provide these materials and leave them in the In-Box, which the Department staff can point out to you.  You'll receive a response (in the out-Box) within two weeks. 
  
     Monday:  9 - 10am; 12 - 6:30pm 
     Tuesday:  10am - 5pm 
     Wednesday:  11am-3:30pm; 4:30-6:30pm 
     Thursday:  9:30am-2:00pm; 2:30-3:30pm; 6:45-8:00pm 
     Friday:  10am-12pm 
  

The Peer Advising Assistants are thoroughly trained, and can help you with most of your needs such as helping you declare your major, signing off on your graduation audit, answering most of your questions, and so on.  However, for the evaluation of transfer or foreign credits, and for permits, you MUST SEE  
DR. Klass.   

*** Please note that Advisors are generally NOT available for general advising during scheduled meetings; they will be at the meetings (described later). Check the Advising Calendar on the bulletin boards (or call first and ask if there is a meeting scheduled) to make certain an Advisor will be available on the day you are planning to come in.

ADVISING BULLETIN BOARDS
There are a number of Advising Bulletin Boards in the corridor outside of Room 611HN. These display a Calendar of Advising events and information about registration, advising hours, jobs, psychology in the news, and other topics of interest to majors. 

Be sure to check the third bulletin board on your left as you leave the Psychology Office. The Advising Calendar on this bulletin board lists all meetings sponsored by the Advising Office. Check the bulletins boards regularly for up-dated information. 


 

GRADUATE SCHOOL CATALOGUES
Graduate catalogues for programs in psychology and related fields are in the open bookcase in Room 611HN.  

Although they may not be removed from 611, please feel free to make yourself comfortable and browse!

Dr. Seegmiller has set up a Library Resource Center for Psychology Advising. Many extremely useful books, binders and tapes as well as other information about applying to graduate school, careers, and the fields of psychology are on reserve in the Hunter College Library (2nd floor). The call numbers for these materials may be found on the Reserve Desk Computer under "Course=PSYCH ADV 000" and "Instructor = PSYCH ADV"
