The JULIAN SAMORA RESEARCH
INSTITUTE is committed to the generation, transmission, and application
of knowledge to serve the needs of Latino communities in the Midwest.
To this end, it has organized a number of publication initiatives
to facilitate the timely dissemination of current research and information
relevant to Latinos.

The IUPLR, through its
activities, shall seek to: A) Enlarge the scope and raise the quality
of research that has a bearing on U.S. Latino communities.B) Raise
the visibility of and create a strong institutional presence for
Latino research.C)Maintain a voice for Latino researchers through
its national projects, and its grants program. D) Establish a link
between the Latino research community and the public policy arena.

Located at the Latin American
and Caribbean Center of Florida International University, the CRI's
purpose is to utilize the substantial Cuba-related resources of
the University and the greater Miami community to produce research
and develop programs that serve faculty, students, and a community
vitally interested in Cuban and Cuban-American issues.

The Hispanic Research
Center at ASU was founded in 1985 and is a university- wide interdisciplinary
unit dedicated to research and creative activities. The purposes
of the HRC include the performance of basic and applied research
on a broad range of topics related to Hispanic populations, to disseminate
research findings to the academic community and the public, to engage
in creative activities and make them available generally, and to
provide public service in areas of importance to Hispanics.

Founded in 1969, the Chicano
Studies Research Center promotes the study and dissemination of
knowledge on the experience of the people of Mexican descent and
other Latinos in the United States. The CSRC primarily supports
UCLA faculty and the training of the next generation of scholars
engaged in this area of inquiry.

Established in 1989 at
the University of Massachusetts-Boston, the goal of the Gastón
Institute is to inform the public and policymakers about issues
vital to the Commonwealth's growing Latino community and provide
the information and analysis necessary for the effective participation
of the Latino community in public policy development.

The Center for Puerto
Rican Studies is the only university based research institute
in the United States devoted to the interdisciplinary study of
the Puerto Rican experience. Founded in 1973 the
Centro has grown into a major research and educational resource
cente. In addressing major inequities in social conditions affecting
Puerto Ricans, Centro research bears important implications for
the study of Latinos in the United States and other contemporary
diasporic communities.
