welfare demands fundamental social change instead. Psychology too
often has oppressed people rather than liberated them.

and psychology of commonly abused drugs in humans. Although the
toll of drug abuse is well known, the mechanisms by which drugs
produce their effects are often obscure. We seek to clarify the

complications resulting from drug abuse. We work exclusively with
humans and use experimental paradigms where pharmacologically
active doses of abusable drugs are studied under controlled
laboratory conditions in volunteers.
