American Psychological Association
The website of the APA, the major organization of psychologists in the U.S.A. Replete with useful information, but much is below the first screen (literally), so be sure to explore and to scroll down to the end of each page. Try "Students," then "What you need to know" to find out about stages of psychology education; "Members," then "Divisions" for links to all the divisions of the APA, which is a great way to start career exploration; "Site Map" for a thorough index of the site's topics.
The following 4 "mega-sites" are all excellent, with well-chosen and up-to-date links and easy-to-use organization. There isn't a best one in any absolute sense. Which mega-site(s) work(s) for you is a matter of personal preference, so start by trying them all.
Psychology World Wide Web Virtual Library
"Academic Psychology Departments" through "History of Psychology" and "Stress Management" to "What's New in Psychology."
PsychCentral: Dr. John Grohol's Mental Health Page
"Mental Health and Psychology" links, Book Reviews, "Have I Got..?" quizzes, Internet commentary
Psychology Online Resource Central
"APA Writing Links" through "Organizations on the Web" to "Undergraduate Publications"
Psyc Site
