Elizabeth Harmon - Paleoanthropological Fieldwork in Ethiopia

Elizabeth Harmon has worked in Ethiopia since 1999. Initially she was part of the Hadar Project Research Team working in the Hadar Formation, the site where the famous 3.2 million year old fossil “Lucy” was discovered. Currently she co-directs a field project in southern Ethiopia centered on more recent deposits that contain several stone tool industries including Acheulian material, as well as fossilized animal remains. Elizabeth [far left] is seen here with co-Director Michelle Drapeau and some of the local Male people who observe the field activities with great interest.
