Timothy Bromage - Paleontological Fieldwork in Tanzania
Dr. Bromage co-directs the "Hominid Corridor Research Project" (HCRP) with Friedemann Schrenk of the Hessisches Landesmuseum Darmstadt, Germany. Their primary interests include the paleobiogeography of early hominids, climate and evolution, and origins of the genus Homo. They presently conduct fieldwork in Malawi and Tanzania. Here, Dr. Bromage is perched on the south rim of the Main Gorge at Olduvai. The view is looking up the gorge to the west from the vicinity of the Fifth Fault. Beds I-II are visible as light grey and white strata at the base of the gorge. Beds II-IV continue above, capped by Masek beds (red) and Ndutu Beds at the very top.
